Danakil

Formed in 2000 at a high school in Marly-le-Roi, near Paris, Danakil has become one of the leading names in the revival of French reggae. Driven by socially engaged lyrics and a sound blending reggae with world music influences, the band released its self-produced debut album "Microclimat" in 2006, followed by "Dialogue de sourds" in 2008, featuring guest appearances from Mighty Diamonds, General Levy and Jah Mason. Repeatedly honored at the Victoires du Reggae and the Web Reggae Awards, Danakil has built its reputation through hundreds of live shows in France and abroad. In 2011, the band founded its own label, Baco Music, cementing its independence. True to its roots, Danakil continues to fly the flag for engaged French reggae.
