Born on 5 May 1997 in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo, Innocent Didace Balume, known as Innoss'B, began singing at age 6 with the family group Maisha Soul. He broke through at 13 by winning the Vodacom Superstar contest held with rapper Akon, earning a trip to the United States to record a track with him. Regarded as the pioneer of Afrocongo, a fusion of Congolese rumba, ndombolo, and local folklore, he found international success with the remix of "Yope" alongside Tanzania's Diamond Platnumz, racking up over 160 million views. In 2019, the BBC named him among the top five African stars to watch. A singer, rapper, percussionist, dancer, and philanthropist, Innoss'B is today one of the most prominent Congolese artists of his generation.
