Yaniss Odua is a French reggae and dancehall singer from Martinique, born in 1978. Introduced to Caribbean sound systems at a young age by his cousin Daddy Harry, he released his first album, "Little Yaniss," at just 13 and hosted the show "Ragga'zine" on RFO. He moved to Paris in 1998 and broke through in 2001 with the single "La Caraïbe," followed by the album "Yon Pa Yon" (2002), praised by critics as one of the French reggae records closest to contemporary dancehall, and nominated at the 2003 Victoires de la Musique awards. True to his Caribbean roots, Yaniss Odua writes sincere, socially conscious lyrics over polished productions that blend reggae tradition with contemporary sounds. A stalwart of the French reggae scene, known for his rare authenticity.
